AFP seizes grenade launchers, explosives, ammo in Maguindanao del Norte

The AFP seizes firearms like grenade launchers, ammunition, and explosives during a combat clearing operation in Maguindanao del Norte

MANILA, Philippines — Several firearms, including grenade launchers, ammunition, and explosives, have been confiscated during a combat clearing operation in Maguindanao del Norte, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said Wednesday.

The military said in a statement that six rocket-propelled grenade launchers, rifle grenades, base plates, and ammo of 81mm mortar, and Caliber .50 machine gun ammunition were seized by the Marine Battalion Landing Team-5 on Sunday, March 12, in Barangay Nabalawag, Barira, Maguindanao del Norte.

The 1st Marine Brigade’s (1MBde) Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team immediately disposed of explosives, while the other confiscated arms were transported to the 1MBde Headquarters in Togaig, Barira, for safekeeping.
