MANILA, Philippines — The low-pressure area (LPA) east of Mindanao will continue to bring rain to Mindanao and Eastern Visayas on Wednesday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
The LPA was last spotted 370 kilometers east of Davao City, said Pagasa weather specialist Daniel Villamil. He added that it continues to have a low chance of developing into a storm, but it will still bring scattered rain over Mindanao and Eastern Visayas.
“Dahil sa inaasahan nating paglapit ng LPA sa ating kapuluan, especially sa Mindanao area, buong Mindanao, makakaranas pa rin ng scattered thunderstorms pati na rin sa Eastern Visayas area.”
(Because we expect the LPA to approach our archipelago, especially in the Mindanao area, all of Mindanao will still experience scattered thunderstorms, as well as in the Eastern Visayas Area.)
“Kaya sa ating mga kababayan [sa Mindanao] maging handa at alerto tayo sa banta ng biglaang pagulan at pagguho ng lupa lalo na kung tuloy tuloy ang ulan na nararanasan,” he added.
(So to our fellow countrymen in Mindanao, let’s be prepared and alert to the threat of sudden rain and landslides, especially if the rain we are experiencing continues.)
On the other hand, the rest of Visayas will have relatively fairer weather with chances of isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, the state weather service also said.
Cloudy skies and rain, meanwhile, are forecast to prevail over the eastern portion of Luzon due to the influence of the northeast monsoon, locally termed amihan, as the rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila, will generally experience fair weather conditions despite chances of isolated light rains.
No gale warning is currently raised in the country’s in-land seas and surrounding seaboards, but moderate to rough seas are still expected over the western and northern coasts of Luzon and the country’s eastern coast.
As for the temperature range in key cities/areas across the country for March 15, Pagasa issued the following:
- Metro Manila: 23 to 32 degrees Celsius
- Baguio City: 13 to 21 degrees Celsius
