MANILA, Philippines — A low pressure area (LPA) is forecast to trigger overcast skies and rain in Mindanao, which may cause flooding and landslides, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Tuesday.

Pagasa said the LPA is 340 kilometers southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. It is unlikely to develop into a tropical cyclone.

(Here, the whole of Mindanao, because of the low pressure area, will experience cloudy skies and scattered rains, lightning and thunder. These rains will possibly strengthen and cause floods and landslides.)

Meanwhile, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora will have cloudy skies with rain due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan”, said Pagasa. The northeast monsoon will also affect Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon but without significant impact.
