MARIVELES, Bataan — A three-hour fire gutted a portion of a ship that is reportedly under repair in Barangay Lucanin in this town early Tuesday morning, authorities said.
SFO4 Recio Imperial of the Bureau of Fire Protection-Mariveles said the fire broke out at the freezer section of the ship, which was docked at the Seafront Shipyard and Port Terminal.
The ship owner has yet to come forward to shed light on the incident, Imperial said.
No one was reported injured since the ship was empty except for insulators in the freezer section.
“Based on our findings, no inflammable materials were found inside the ship, ” said Recio, adding the ship had been moored to the shipyard for over a month now.
The cause of the blaze was still being investigated.
