ES Bersamin brushes off resignation rumor as ‘fake news, part of black propaganda’

MANILA, Philippines — Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Tuesday belied the rumor that he has resigned from his post.

He said the gossip is just part of alleged “black propaganda” against him.

“It is fake news and part of black propaganda,” Bersamin replied after being asked for a statement on his supposed resignation.

The Presidential Communications Office have already denied the rumor that Bersamin has quit his post.

Three members of the Marcos administration’s Cabinet have so far resigned since the President assumed office on June 30, 2022.

Among the three was lawyer Trixie Cruz Angeles, who served as Press Secretary of Marcos. She quit her post citing health reasons.

Next to resign was Commission on Audit Chair Jose Calida.

Lawyer Vic Rodriguez, who served as spokesperson and first Executive Secretary of Marcos, also left his post. Rodriguez was embroiled in some controversies, including appointments in government posts and the sugar importation mess prior to resigning as Marcos’ “Little President.”

Bersamin replaced Rodriguez as Executive Secretary.
