Fisherman rescued after boat capsizes in Catanduanes

VIRAC, Catanduanes — A 34-year-old fisherman was rescued on Tuesday after his motorboat capsized in Baras town, Catanduanes province, due to rough seas, a report from authorities said.

The Baras municipal disaster risk reduction office (MDRRMO) identified the rescued fisherman as Jessie Tesorero, a resident of Barangay Danao in Baras.

The incident report said that at 7 a.m. while fishing near Rapu-Rapu Island in Albay province, the motorboat of Tesorero capsized due to strong waves. He had drifted at sea for two hours when he was spotted by fisherman Joemar Abad, 28, sailing back to Barangay Danao.

Tesorero was rescued at around 9 a.m. and was brought home to his village, according to the report.
