TUGUEGARAO CITY—Personnel of the local station of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Calayan town, Cagayan province and village officials have launched a search-and-rescue operation for a 45-year-old fisherman who went missing last week after his boat capsized.

According to Joe Robert Arirao, councilor of Barangay Dadao in Calayan, Willy Dapadap, a resident of Barangay Magsidel, and a companion were fishing on Feb. 25 when they encountered strong waves, causing their outrigger boat to overturn.

Dapadap’s companion managed to swim back to the shore and immediately sought help from village officials.

Citing a report from the Coast Guard-Calayan’s water search and rescue team, Arirao said Dapadap has yet to be found as of Tuesday.
