A pet dog, who showed how independent he could get, delighted social media users as he safely returned to his owner’s place after getting groomed at a nearby pet salon in Mandaluyong City on Monday, Feb. 20.
Earlier, Mitzi Pauline Fabian took Fuffy, her 5-year-old male corgi-aspin (asong Pinoy) mix, to a pet salon located a few blocks away from her family’s tailor shop.
Fabian shared photos of her conversation with her dog’s groomer, which began when she asked how her dog was doing.
When the staff told her they were almost done grooming Fuffy, Fabian instructed them to just let her dog out after the session, saying her dog already knew how to return alone.
At 1:24 p.m., the staff sent Fabian a photo of Fuffy as the dog was about to leave the salon. Shortly after, Fabian replied with a snapshot of her dog safely arriving at their shop.
Fabian told the Inquirer in an interview that Fuffy accompanies them daily to their tailoring business and often stays by the window.
“Actually, ‘di siya indoor pet po talaga. Every day namin siya kasama sa business po namin. We have a tailoring [shop at] parang mascot and entertainer din [si Fuffy doon],” she said.
(Actually, he is not an indoor pet. He comes with us every day to our place of business. We have a tailoring shop, and Fuffy behaves like a mascot and entertainer there.)
She added that it was the first time she did not fetch Fuffy from the pet salon, yet her dog managed to return safely.
“Isang straight [path] lang naman din po ung nilalakaran niya kaya safe naman po siya [pauwi]. Sanay po siya; ‘di namin siya [nilalagyan] ng leash ever since […],” she explained.
(He just walks on a straight path, so he is safe [on his way home]. He is used to it; we have never put him on a leash.)
Fabian’s adorable dog so impressed other fur parents online as her post received over 60,000 reactions, 6,000 comments and over 35,000 shares as of this writing.
Even though many social media users were amazed by the dog’s cleverness, some others still expressed concern about Fuffy’s safety if permitted to wander alone on the streets where he could be “dognapped,” caught by dog catchers or run over by cars. /ra
