Starting Feb. 1, dogs, cats and other pets will be allowed inside the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 2, which runs from Antipolo to Recto in Manila, according to the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) administrator Hernando Cabrera. But pets must be fully vaccinated, confined inside cages and wearing diapers while inside the trains. The LRT official discouraged the public from bringing “big” pets as trains could be crowded with people. He said the LRT 2 has a daily ridership of 159,000 as of December last year, getting closer to the 180,000 to 200,000 daily ridership before the pandemic. In 2021, the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 already allowed passengers to bring their pets inside the train as long as they are placed inside pet cages not exceeding two feet by two feet. —NESTOR CORRALES
