1,000 people lose homes in Quezon City fire
MANILA, Philippines — Around a thousand people were displaced and 35 houses were destroyed in a fire that struck a residential area in Barangay Tatalon, Quezon City, on Saturday night.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire started at around 9 p.m. and was raised to the second alarm at 9:38 p.m., and reached the third alarm by 10:10 p.m.
Firefighters were able to control the blaze at 11:20 p.m. and extinguish it at 12:41 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19.
There were no reported casualties, but one resident and one firefighter were injured. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, the BFP said.
However, the fire easily spread because the houses were made of plywood, lumber, and other flammable materials.
