VP Sara named ‘adopted daughter’ of Kalinga

TABUK CITY, Kalinga–Vice President Sara Duterte was declared an “adopted daughter” of Kalinga province when she graced the Bodong Festival and the 28th founding anniversary of the province at the Kalinga capitol gymnasium in this city on Monday, Feb. 13.
The Kalinga provincial board passed a resolution containing the declaration, which was signed by Governor James Edduba.
Duterte was also conferred the title, “Lumingay,” which means loving and strong.
The vice president, who is also the concurrent education secretary, said she is in constant coordination with Congress, the Department of Budget and Management, and other agencies to push for the salary increase and other teachers’ needs.
She said that the K-12 curriculum would also be revised to be more effective, citing the planned strimming of the learning areas.
Duterte said the culture of peace would also be included in the curriculum, “which would be important in ensuring that students take the lead in promoting peace and order.”
According to her, the Department of Education would also coordinate with the Commission on Higher Education, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, and industry partners to address the mismatch of skills among senior high school graduates. INQ
