Teacher stabbed dead, granddaughter wounded in Negros Occidental town

In a Negros Occidental town, a teacher stabbed dead while her granddaughter was wounded

BACOLOD CITY — An elementary school teacher was stabbed to death while her 13-year-old granddaughter was injured at their home in Cauayan town, Negros Occidental before dawn Monday.

Nancy Malvas Oliverio, 61, of Purok 10, Barangay Poblacion, suffered several stab wounds in the different parts of her body, according to the police. Her 13-year-old granddaughter sustained a wound on the face and is undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Police investigation showed that the victims were sleeping when an unidentified man, armed with a knife, entered their room at around 3 a.m. on Monday. The perpetrator stabbed the victims when they noticed him.

The victims were brought by the Cauayan rescue personnel to the Cauayan District Hospital but Oliverio was declared dead on arrival.

The police said the suspect may have wanted to steal from the house.
