DOH logs 1,101 new COVID-19 infections from Feb. 6 – 12

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) recorded a total of 1,101 infections from Feb. 6 to 12, which is slightly higher than the previous week’s 1,012 infections.

Based on the DOH’s latest weekly COVID-19 bulletin, the total infections translated to a daily average of 157, which is 9 percent higher than the 145 daily average recorded the previous week.

Two of the new were tagged as critical or severe, raising the number of active critical or severe COVID-19 admissions to 426.

Meanwhile, 98 new deaths were added to the country’s COVID-19 death toll, which is currently at 65,949 as of Feb. 12, based on the DOH’s online COVID-19 tracker.

The DOH said six of these newly-added deaths occurred in the past two weeks, while the rest were backlogs recorded as early as August 2020.

The newly- recorded deaths are also breached the previous week’s record of 85.

The hospitalization rate, on the other hand, slightly went down with ICU bed utilization now at 13.9 from 14.2 percent, while non-ICU bed utilization rate remained at 19.6 percent.

Meanwhile, the total number of individuals who have been fully-vaccinated against COVID-19, stands at 73,860,103 (94.57 percent of target population), as 13,796  more received the shots last week.

The. number of individuals with booster shots, on the other hand, is now at 21,450,894 after 60,346 additional individuals were inoculated in the same period.

Based on DOH’s online tracker, the country’s total COVID-19 caseload is currently at 4,074,691, as of Feb. 12, with 3,999,565 recoveries and 9,177 active cases.
