LTO NCR-West says 617 traffic violators apprehended in January 2023

MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office-National Capital Region (LTO-NCR) West apprehended a total of 617 motorists for violating various traffic laws in January 2023.
LTO NCR-West Regional Director Roque Verzosa III said that of the total, 333 were apprehended for violating Republic Act (RA) 4136, or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code. This number included 129 motorists who were apprehended as their vehicles have defective accessories, devices, equipment, and parts.
Particularly, among those apprehended due to traffic code violations were 32 drivers who did not carry with them their official receipt (OR) and certificate of registration (CR) when approached were likewise apprehended; 23 public transport drivers who were only wearing slippers while on duty; 17 drivers using unregistered vehicles; 17 drivers using cars with unauthorized modifications; 12, for operating in an illegal terminal; 11, for using vehicles with unauthorized accessories; 10, for reckless driving; 10, for obstruction; and nine, for driving with no license.
Versoza likewise said that 141 motorists were apprehended for not wearing the prescribed seat belt device as well as 14 others for failure to require the front passenger to wear a seatbelt. Both were violations under RA 8750.
Another 117 motorists were also apprehended for failure to wear the standard protective motorcycle helmet, and seven, for failure to require the pillion rider to wear the standard protective motorcycle helmet which were violations under RA 10054.
Three more motorists were likewise apprehended in violation of RA 10913 or the Anti-Distracted Driving Act, as well as two others for breaching RA 10666 or the Children’s Safety on Motorcycles Act of 2015.
Further, Verzosa said the LTO-NCR West had ordered 220 motorists to attend lectures on the importance of following traffic laws. The lectures were done under the guidance of LTO chief Jay Art Tugade.
“Kailangan ipatupad ang batas trapiko at mga iba pang mga batas na nauugnay sa land transport upang sa ganun ay magkaroon ng kaayusan sa ating mga lansangan,” Verzosa said in a stament.
(It is necessary to implement the traffic law and other laws related to land transport so that there is order in our streets.)
“Asahan ninyo na ang LTO-NCR West ay patuloy na ipapatupad ang mga batas na ito para na rin magisuro ang kaligtasan ng ating mga motorista,” he added.
(Expect that the LTO-NCR West will continue to enforce these laws to ensure the safety of our motorists.)
