65 baby sea turtles freed into Subic Bay

SUBIC BAY FREEPORT — At least 65 newly hatched olive ridley turtles (Lepidochelys olivacea) were released into the Subic Bay in this freeport recently.
All Hands Beach Resort on Monday, Feb 6, said it facilitated the release of the hatchlings on Feb. 2.
The resort serves as a sanctuary for turtles that usually come to lay eggs from November to December every year.
Olive ridley turtles are commonly spotted along the shoreline of Subic Bay and in nearby Zambales province.
But also found in the areas are green sea turtles (Chelonia mydas) and hawksbill sea turtles (Eretmochelys imbricata)
All Hands Beach is also among seven major areas inside the freeport identified by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources as nesting sites for pawikan.
Since it opened in 2012, the resort has released 9,472 sea turtle hatchlings.
