8 Zambales, Bataan LGUs get over P178M in revenue shares from SBMA

OLONGAPO CITY — Eight local government units (LGUs) in Zambales and Bataan provinces received more than P178 million as their shares from Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) revenues in the second semester of 2022.

SBMA Senior Deputy Administrator lawyer Ramon Agregado said in a statement Wednesday, Feb. 1, that the agency’s performance improved in 2022—with higher revenues generated and more business projects in the pipeline.

Records showed that the second-semester revenue shares increased from P140,602,568.18 to P178,705,824.54 for the second semester of 2021 and 2022, respectively, by 27.1 percent.

Olongapo City, the biggest beneficiary since 2011, received P41,779,273.37.

It was followed by Subic town (P26,842,905.77); Dinalupihan town, Bataan (P22,257,027.69; San Marcelino, Zambales (P21,461,412.26); Hermosa, Bataan (P19,103,262.77); Castillejos, Zambales (P16,277,249.93); Morong, Bataan (P15,780,896.32; and San Antonio, Zambales (P15,203,796.43).

SBMA shares are derived from the five-percent corporate taxes paid by business locators in the Freeport to promote parallel development in the neighboring communities and enhance LGU projects in tourism, infrastructure, and education.

The shares are released twice a year—August for the first semester and February of the following year for the second semester. INQ
