Beware of scammers, fixers during iconic Panagbenga festival – Baguio mayor

As the Baguio Flower Festival or “Panagbenga” draws near, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong on Thursday warned the public against transacting with scammers and fixers that offer slots in the festival's activities.

MANILA, Philippines — Ahead of this year’s much-anticipated Baguio Flower Festival, or “Panagbenga,” Mayor Benjamin Magalong has issued a strong warning against scammers and fixers who are trying to sell spots in the festival’s events.

Mayor Magalong has issued a warning through the Baguio City Public Information Office about fraudsters posing as organizers of the Panagbenga’s Market Encounter and Session Road in Bloom events.

He further noted that these scammers and fixers were “preying not only on the unsuspecting businessmen but also on those who are desperate to grab slots the easy way.”

“Please do not entertain these unscrupulous people to avoid being victimized,” Magalong said.

The mayor then urged those interested in taking part in the Panagbenga festivities to transact directly with the secretariat via these communications:

Panagbenga will open on Feb. 1 with a grand parade following a Panagbenga Park-Session Road-Harrison Road-Melvin Jones Grandstand route.

The iconic Panagbenga festival first burst onto the scene in 1996 as a way for Baguio to recover from the devastating Luzon earthquake of 1990.
