LEGAZPI CITY — Search-and-rescue operations continued on Thursday, Jan. 26, for the two missing fishermen in Pandan town in Catanduanes province.

A report from the Philippine Coast Guard in Catanduanes said Alfredo Alnaiz, 35, and his brother, Noli, 33, ventured out to sea on Tuesday using a motorized banca and failed to return on Wednesday.

Gremil Alexis Naz, spokesperson for the Office of Civil Defense Bicol, said the search and rescue teams were already monitoring the sea conditions on Thursday morning.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration Southern Luzon issued a gale warning at 5 a.m. for strong winds brought by the northeast monsoon.

In separate advisories, the Coast Guard stations in Sorsogon and Masbate suspended sea travel for small vessels with 250 gross tonnages or less due to rough sea conditions.

The larger vessels were also alerted for possible big waves on the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon. INQ
