Several local government units suspend classes due to bad weather and the earthquake that struck Camarines Norte.

MANILA, Philippines — Several local government units suspended classes on Tuesday due to inclement weather and the earthquake that struck Camarines Norte.

Aside from class postponement, Camarines Norte Gov. Ricarte “Dong” Padilla also decided to defer government office work this Tuesday following the 4.8 magnitude tectonic quake that hit the province at 5:57 a.m.

Here is the list of areas where class suspensions are in effect for January 17, 2023:

Based on the 4 a.m. weather bulletin of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), two low-pressure areas (LPAs) are currently inside the Philippine area of responsibility.

While prevailing forecast showed that both LPAs are not likely to intensify into tropical cyclones, the older LPA, which was last located 290 kilometers east of Maasin City, Southern Leyte, and the prevailing shear line are anticipated to cause cloudy skies and rain in the Bicol Region and Quezon this Tuesday.

On the other hand, the northeast monsoon, which is locally known as amihan, is predicted to bring overcast skies and rain over Batanes, Cagayan, and Apayao
