MANILA, Philippines — The city government of Pasig closed down a popular fast food chain branch after it was discovered to be operating without the necessary permit.
In a Twitter post, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto revealed that the chicken restaurant’s wastewater is being dumped directly into a nearby creek and that the store has no Environmental Permit to Operate (EPO).
“Grabe ‘yung kapal ng sebo, wastewater nila diretso sa Parian Creek. Wala ring Environmental Permit to Operate,” said Sotto.
(The sebum is so thick its wastewater goes straight to Parian Creek. It also has no Environmental Permit to Operate.)
“Maaari silang magbukas ulit kapag may EPO na (They can reopen once they have an EPO),” he added.
Pasig City’s Business Permit and Licensing Department enforced the chicken restaurant’s closure.

Sotto then reminded other businesses to ensure their compliance with the law.
“I share this as a warning to other establishments. #FollowDLaw,” he said.
