MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga — Police arrested 15 people engaged in illegal gambling in a week-long anti-criminality campaign in Tarlac province.
Colonel Erwin Sanque, Tarlac police director, said 62 crime suspects were apprehended from Dec. 26 to Jan. 3.
He said police confiscated P9,000 bets from persons caught playing cards and tossing coins, adding that they would be charged with violating laws against illegal gambling.
Sanque said 23 of the 62 arrested were wanted, with pending criminal cases in courts, while 10 were apprehended in anti-illegal drugs operations that resulted in the confiscation of 55 sachets of suspected shabu.
“The remaining 13 suspects were apprehended during police response (to distress calls),” he added. INQ
