Surigao Del Sur hit by magnitude 4.8 earthquake
MANILA, Philippines — Surigao Del Sur was struck by a magnitude 4.8 earthquake on Tuesday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Phivolc said the quake was detected at 6:09 a.m. and its epicenter was located 73 kilometers northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur.
Instrumental Intensity III was recorded in Nabunturan, Davao de Oro, while Bislig City, Surigao Del Sur and Alamada, Cotabato experienced Instrumental Intensity I, said Phivolcs.
The tectonic earthquake’s depth of focus was seven kilometers.
No aftershocks and damage are expected, Phivolcs said.
