LPA outside PAR unlikely to develop into cyclone — Pagasa
MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine area of responsibility is not expected to develop into a cyclone, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Tuesday.
Pagasa said the LPA is currently 145 kilometers southeast of General Santos City, South Cotabato.
“Base sa pinakahuli nating datos, maaaring pumasok itong low pressure area na ito, pero sa ngayon, maliit pa rin ang tsansa na ito ay maging bagyo. Mas nakikita natin yung posibilidad na yung low pressure area na ito ay malusaw,” said Pagasa weather specialist Obet Badrina.
(Based on our latest data, the LPA may enter but for now, it has a low chance of becoming a storm. We see the possibility that this low-pressure area will dissipate).
According to Pagasa, the trough or extension of the LPA is forecast to affect Visayas, Caraga, Davao region, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Palawan, triggering cloudy skies and thunderstorms.
