QUEZON, Isabela — A 70-year-old councilor died while the mayor in this town was wounded along with five others in a three-car smashup on Christmas eve, police said Sunday, Dec. 25.
Councilor Candido Andumang died while being taken to the hospital after his Strada smashed at 7:10 p.m. into the Fortuner of Mayor Jimmy Gamazon, 46, and another car in Barangay Abut.
Gamazon and his 44-year-old wife, Mercy, were wounded and were taken to the hospital.
Also wounded were the driver of the other Fortuner car Meireece Ferrer, 30, and three occupants—Abegail, 24; Romano, 22; and Kevin, 32, all surnamed Ronquillo, and residents of Barangay Bantug in Roxas, Isabela.
Andumang’s car was going north, while the mayor’s and Ferrer’s cars were south-bound when the collision happened.
Police are still investigating the reason for the collision. The cars were almost totally wrecked.
