Rain to continue over several parts of PH on Wednesday

The LPA was last located 275 kilometers east of General Santos City, according to Pagasa weather specialist Veronica Torres, and is expected to bring rains over several parts of the country in the next few days.

MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area (LPA), a shear line, and the northeast monsoon (amihan) (Pagasa) will cause widespread rainfall over the country, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

The said LPA was last located 275 kilometers east of General Santos City, according to Pagasa weather specialist Veronica Torres, and is expected to bring rains over several parts of the country in the next few days.

“Nanatiling mababa ang tiyansa nito maging bagyo in the next 24 to 48 hours,” said Torres.

(The chance of it becoming a typhoon in the next 24 to 48 hours remained low.)

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon is expected to rain over Luzon on Wednesday.

“Inaasahan natin na sa may silangang bahagi ng Luzon, asahan natin ang maulap na kalangitan na may mga pagulan dahil pa rin sa northeast monsoon, samantalang sa Bicol Region asahan na maulap ang kalangitan na may scattered rain showers,” said Torres.

(We expect cloudy skies with rains due to the northeast monsoon will continue in the eastern part of Luzon, while in the Bicol Region expect cloudy skies with scattered rain showers.)

On the other hand, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of rain.

Cloudy skies and rain are also expected over the entire Visayas and the eastern section of Mindanao, specifically Caraga, due to the influence of the shear line together with the LPA. Meanwhile, cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of isolated rain and thunderstorms are then expected over the rest of Mindanao.

Gale warning is still raised over the seaboards of Northern, Central and Southern Luzon, specifically in the waters of Batanes, Cagayan (including Babuyan Islands), Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon (including Polillo Islands), Camarines Norte and Sur, and Catanduanes.

The state weather bureau said the temperature range in key cities/areas across the country for Wednesday is as follows:

  • Metro Manila: 24 to 29 degrees Celsius
