Amihan to bring rain, rough seas in parts of Luzon — Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — The northeast monsoon or the amihan is expected to bring rain and rough seas in parts of Luzon on Sunday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Saturday.

In its latest update, Pagasa said the northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with rains in Cagayan Valley, Aurora and Quezon.

The Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Central Luzon are expected to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains also because of the amihan.

Pagasa also raised a gale warning in the seaboard of Luzon due to the said weather system which is caused by cold winds blowing from Siberia.

The seaboards of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Isabela, Aurora and the eastern coast of Quezon will experience rough to very rough sea conditions with waves reaching 2.8 to 5 meters tall.

The seaboards of Camarines Norte, the northern coast of Camarines Sur, the northern and eastern coasts of Catanduanes, the eastern coast of Albay, the eastern coast of Sorsogon, Northern Samar and Eastern Samar is also expected to have rough to very rough sea condition with waves reaching 2.8 to 4.5 meters.

Fishing boats and other small seacraft are advised not to go out to sea, while the state weather bureau said larger sea vessels should be on alert for big waves.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country are expected to experience fair weather with partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain and thunderstorms.
