MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has opened Malacañang Palace to the public for “Simbang Gabi” this Christmas, according to the Office of the Press Secretary (OPS).

In the OPS’ statement on Friday, Marcos was said to have made the announcement during a Christmas party for employees of the Office of the President.

“According to the President, daily masses will be held at 4:30 a.m. in front of Mabini Hall and attendees can enter through Gate 6 directly in front of Kalayaan Hall,” stated the OPS.

This is the first Christmas season since the height of the pandemic in the country where there are more lenient health protocols, particularly the use of face masks, after Marcos signed executive orders that made its use voluntary indoors and outside.
