LUCENA CITY — Police recovered Thursday four kilos of dried marijuana leaves, or “weed,” worth P400,000 from an abandoned apartment in Silang town in Cavite province.

In a report Friday, the Region 4A police said they received information at 3:20 p.m. that four bricks of marijuana weighing a kilo each were found inside the abandoned apartment unit in Barangay Kaong.

The informant said the unit was rented by two college students.

Investigators said the two tenants were last seen on Nov. 24 and were unreachable for confirmation if they would continue the rent, which prompted the apartment owner to open the unit that led to the discovery of the illegal hemp.

During the background check, the investigators learned that the two tenants were arrested in a buy-bust operation on Nov. 25 while selling “weed” in Cavite City.

In Naic town, anti-illegal drug operatives arrested Gerry del Rosario in a buy-bust operation at 12:10 a.m. Friday in Barangay Muzon.

Del Rosario, an alleged drug group leader and a “high-value” target in the local drug scene, yielded P25,500 of high-grade marijuana or “kush.”

He was detained and is facing charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. INQ
