PUERTO PRINCESA CITY — Two men were killed in separate road accidents in the towns of Roxas and Brooke’s Point in Palawan province on Tuesday (December 13) and Wednesday (December 14), authorities said.
In Roxas, Felix Hurbud, 66, died after the backhoe he was operating while conducting a road rehabilitation project for the Palawan government fell off a 100-meter-deep ravine in Malatabon River, Sitio (sub-village) Cayasan, Barangay (village) Nicanor Zabala on Tuesday afternoon.
His two companions tried to rescue him but failed, which prompted them to call for help from local emergency responders.
Because of the depth of the ravine, rescue personnel had a hard time searching for Hurbada, who was found the following day, a few meters away from the backhoe.
