MANILA, Philippines — More than P27 million worth of suspected “shabu” stashed inside Chinese tea packages were seized and three suspects were arrested in separate operations in Taguig and Las Piñas last Dec. 13, the Southern Police District said on Wednesday.
One of the three suspects was identified as Basser Utto, alleged leader of Utto gang responsible for proliferation of illegal drugs in Taguig.
They were first flagged for driving recklessly, but police discovered partially opened green Chinese tea plastic bags containing medium-sized sachets of suspected shabu.
Seized were three kilograms of suspected shabu divided into 60 medium sachets. Also arrested was suspect Jayson Lucas alias Brad who was found with one kilogram of suspected shabu inside a plastic Chinese tea package and three sachets of suspected shabu said to weigh 3.3 grams.
Charges of violating Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects.
