Active COVID-19 cases in Quezon up from 56 to 70

Quezon logs fewer COVID-19 cases in September

LUCENA CITY – The number of active COVID-19 cases in Quezon province rose to 70 on Friday, December 9, from the 56 recorded on December 1, the data from health authorities showed.

According to the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), 16 of the 41 municipalities in the province no longer have any recorded COVID-19 cases.

Lucban and Atimonan towns had the most active virus carriers with six each.

On Dec. 1, the IPHO listed that 19 municipalities in the province were COVID-19 free.

Those previously infected in the localities have either recovered or died, the IPHO report showed.

The province recorded 219 COVID-19 cases last month, a huge dip from 398 cases in October, the data from health authorities showed.

The IPHO data showed that as of Friday, out of 2,192,525 total doses of vaccines that were administered, only 205,239 qualified residents had booster shots.

The local and provincial health centers have been conducting daily vaccination drives in shopping malls, workplaces, schools, and private and government offices.

Still, Quezon registered the lowest COVID-19 vaccination records in the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) region, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
