2 Mabalacat City anti-drug cops gunned down
MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga – Bonnet-wearing men riding motorcycles shot and killed two policemen in Dau village here before dawn on Saturday, December 3.
City police reported that the victims Senior Master Sergeant Sofronio Capitle Jr. and Staff Sergeant Dominador Gacusan Jr., both members of the Mabalacat City Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit, were about to board a motorcycle along South Daang Bakal Road after conducting an anti-illegal drugs operation around 3:40 a.m. when they were shot repeatedly by the five still unidentified assailants.
“The suspects [then] alighted from their motorcycles and shot the victims [who had already fallen on the pavement] at point blank range on their heads that resulted in their untimely death,” the report added.
A few hours after the incident, Central Luzon police director Brigadier General Cesar Pasiwen ordered Pampanga police chief Colonel Levi Basilio “to conduct an in-depth and thorough investigation to fast-track the solution of murder of the two members of the Mabalacat City police station.”
Pasiwen said no stone would be left unturned and that the regional police would exert all efforts to give justice to the slain police officers.
