2 alleged NPA die in encounter with military troops in Negros Occidental
BACOLOD CITY — Two suspected communist rebels were killed in an encounter with government soldiers in Barangay Quintin Remo, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental on Monday, November 28.
Brigadier Gen. Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, said the 62nd Infantry Brigade soldiers clashed with about 20 rebels at around 7 a.m.
After the gunfight, which lasted for about 30 minutes, the bodies of two slain rebels were recovered.
The government troopers recovered an AK-47 rifle, two M-16 rifles, one of which had an M-203 grenade launcher tube attached to it, an M-14 rifle, a .357 short firearm, and two backpacks containing personal belongings and other accessories from the encounter area, Pasaporte said.
