Calabarzon police seize more than P247,000 worth of "shabu" and marijuana

LUCENA CITY — Nine suspected illegal drug traders were arrested on Thursday and Friday (Nov. 24 and 25) in buy-bust operations in Quezon, Batangas, and Rizal provinces after they yielded more than P223,000 worth of “shabu” (crystal meth).

Colonel Ledon Monte, Quezon police chief, reported that anti-illegal drugs operatives in Candelaria town collared Romel Giron and Crisalex Giron on Thursday afternoon in Barangay Malabanban Norte.

Police recovered two sachets of meth worth about P47,260 from the suspects.

The Region 4A police reported that the Batangas City drug enforcement unit also arrested Joseph Duda in Barangay Cuta in an anti-illegal drug operation at 4:28 p.m.

The cops seized P38,295 from Duda.

Caught at 6:44 p.m. was Joevilito Ondoy with meth worth P35,880 in Barangay Malitam.

Francisco Calaluan was arrested around 9 p.m. in Ibaan town, Batangas, after he was found carrying an undocumented .38 revolver with five bullets.

Authorities also seized from Calaluan was a motorcycle believed used in drug distribution.

In Antipolo, police nabbed at 12:10 a.m. Friday a “high-value” target, identified as Jhun Michael Daria, in Barangay Cupang.

Daria yielded P68,000 worth of shabu when busted.

Next to be arrested at 1:25 a.m. were Rogelio Borja and Carolina Lucino in Barangay Sta. Cruz.

Police seized P13,600 worth of shabu from the two.

John Patalan, an identified drug pusher on the police watch list, was the last to be arrested in Cupang.

He was found in possession of P20,400 worth of meth.

All suspects were detained and face charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Calaluan will be slapped with a case for illegal possession of a firearm. INQ
