ORMOC CITY — A woman was set to join her mother-in-law in jail after a prison guard found a plastic sachet containing shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in one of her belongings during her visit at the Leyte Sub-provincial jail in Palompon town at about 11:15 in the morning on Monday, Nov 21.
Major Ronald Espina, chief of the Palompon Police Station, identified the suspect as Marynil Hayzel Garcia, 32.
Garcia was set to be charged for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Espina said they received a phone call from Provincial Guard Lloyd Ramos, a personnel of Leyte Sub-Provincial Jail, Palompon, Leyte regarding the incident.
Seized from the possession of the suspect were a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing shabu, a mobile phone, and a sling bag, among others.
Investigation conducted by the responding police disclosed that the suspect was visiting her mother in-law identified as Flordeliza Garcia when the jail guard conducting inspection of the belongings brought by the visitors noticed the illegal items.
Espina said Flordeliza was imprisoned after she was arrested in a buy-bust operation in their hometown in Villaba, Leyte about a year ago.
