7 suspects yield P348,000 shabu, gun, grenade in Batangas

LUCENA CITY — Seven suspects were arrested on Monday and Tuesday in anti-illegal drugs operations in Batangas province, which yielded shabu worth more than P348,000.

The Batangas provincial police reported that Balayan cops, armed with a search warrant, swooped down around 6 a.m. on the house of Alvin Cortiguerra in Barangay 1.

The police found one plastic bag of shabu weighing 30 grams with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value of P207,000, an undocumented.45 pistol loaded with five bullets, and a hand grenade.

In Batangas City, operatives conducted four sting operations and first nabbed Jorey Alibo in Barangay Mahabang Parang around 3:22 p.m.

Alibo yielded two sachets of meth with a DDB value of P35,535.

Next to fall at 6:12 p.m. was Vicente Sta. Ana in Barangay Soro-Soro Karsada, who was found with three sachets of meth worth P35,190.

Police also busted at 11:02 p.m. Rodel Matibag and his associate, Emenda Libradilla, in Barangay Sta. Clara.

Authorities seized from three sachets of shabu with a DDB value of P35,535.

The last arrested were Raymar Calalo and Juanita Abenales in Barangay Balagtas around 12:49 a.m. Tuesday. The suspects were caught with shabu worth P35,190 and marijuana worth P1,100.

The reports said all arrested suspects were on the police watch lists.

All suspects were detained and face charges of violating Republic Act 9165 for possessing and selling dangerous drugs.

Cortiguerra will face another case for illegal possession of a firearm and an explosive.
