Cops seize P207,000 shabu, gun in Batangas City

LUCENA CITY — Police nabbed on Tuesday an alleged armed drug trafficker and seized P207,000 worth of shabu (crystal meth) from him in Batangas City.

Policemen conducting “Oplan Sita,” a routine anti-criminality inspection, noticed at around 1:45 p.m. Arnie Makabenta with a handgun on his waist in Barangay Santa Clara, the Region 4A police said in a report.

The suspect failed to produce a government permit for the firearm.

During the routine frisking, Makabenta was also found in possession of seven sachets of meth weighing 30 grams worth about P207,000.

Police were tracking the source of the illegal drugs.

The suspect is under police custody and face charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and another case for illegal
possession of a firearm.

In this city, policemen nabbed on Tuesday a suspected marijuana peddler.

Lieutenant Colonel Reynaldo Reyes, Lucena police chief, said anti-illegal drugs operatives busted around 12:30 a.m. Reynold Manalo in Barangay Dalahican.

The suspect yielded 16 sachets of marijuana worth P12,585.

The suspect was jailed and is facing criminal charges.
