P3.4M shabu seized from suspects in Batangas City

LUCENA CITY — More than P3.4 million worth of shabu (crystal meth) was seized on Wednesday by authorities from bigtime drug traffickers in Batangas City.

Police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency agents nabbed at 2:20 p.m. meth peddlers Noel Mangubat and Ainsley Asi in a buy-bust operation in front of a fast food chain in Barangay Alangilan, the Batangas police reported on Thursday, Sept. 15.

Authorities seized 500 grams of shabu valued by the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) at about P3,450,000.

The police were tracking the source of the illegal drugs.

The report tagged Mangubat as a “high-value individual.”

In Lipa City, anti-narcotics agents also collared at around 6:30 p.m. Myco Olan and Aileen Saavedra in Barangay Marawoy.

The two were found with five sachets of shabu weighing 16 grams with a DDB value of P108,800.

The cops also found Olan carrying an undocumented caliber .45 pistol with six bullets.

In Calamba City, Laguna, police arrested Manuel Ryan Reyes and Loraine Castellanes in a sting operation at 11:04 p.m. in Barangay Lecheria.

Seized from them were five sachets of meth with a DDB value of P95,200.

All suspects are under police custody and face charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Olan will also be slapped with a case for illegal possession of a firearm.
