Expect rain over parts of Luzon, Mindanao due to shear line, ITCZ — Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — Expect a rainy Tuesday over some parts of Luzon and Mindanao due to the shear line and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“Patuloy na makakaranas ng maulan na panahon itong silangang bahagi ng Luzon, partikular sa Cagayan, Apayao, Isabela, Aurora at Quezon dulot ng shear line,” said Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda.

(Due to the shear line, the eastern part of Luzon will continue to experience rainy weather, particularly in Cagayan, Apayao, Isabela, Aurora and Quezon.)

On the other hand, the ITCZ will also bring rain over Palawan, while partly cloudy to cloudy skies are expected over the rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila, with chances of rain and thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the rain will also be experienced over parts of Mindanao, particularly, over Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.

The rest of Mindanao and the entire Visayas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of rain due to localized thunderstorms.

Catañeda also said that Pagasa is currently monitoring no storms or low-pressure areas within and outside the Philippine area of Responsibility.

No gale warning is currently raised, but moderate to rough seas are expected over the seaboards of Eastern Luzon and Visayas.

The state weather bureau said the temperature range in key cities/areas across the country for Tuesday would be:

• Metro Manila: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
• Baguio City: 17 to 24 degrees Celsius
• Laoag City:  25 to 32 degrees Celsius
• Tuguegarao: 23 to 29 degrees Celsius
• Legazpi City: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius
• Puerto Princesa City: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius
• Tagaytay: 22 to 30 degrees Celsius
• Kalayaan Islands: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius
• Iloilo City: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius
• Cebu: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius
• Tacloban City: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius
• Cagayan De Oro City: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius
• Zamboanga City: 25 to 33 degrees Celsius
• Davao City: 24 to 33 degrees Celsius
