Motorcyclist dead in hit-and-run in Cavite

LUCENA CITY — A motorcycle rider died in a hit-and-run incident early Sunday in Tanza town in Cavite province.

The Region 4A police reported that motorcycle rider Christopher Mapa was traveling along Tanza-Trece road in Barangay (village) Punto 1 when his vehicle was side swept by a still unidentified truck driver around 3:45 a.m.

The wayward motorcycle consequently crashed into another oncoming truck.

The victim died from serious injuries while being taken to a hospital in the locality.

The drivers of both trucks sped off after the incident.

The report did not say if the rider was wearing a crash helmet.

Further investigation is ongoing to identify the truck drivers.
