Motorcyclist dies in Batangas highway mishap
LUCENA CITY – A motorcyclist died in a hit-and-run incident Saturday night in the City of Sto. Tomas, Batangas, the local police reported on Sunday.
The Sto. Tomas police said Roderick Sevillena, 36, was on his motorcycle along J.P. Laurel Highway in Barangay San Roque at around 6 p.m. when he side swept a pedestrian, identified as alias “Balot.”
The impact caused the rider to lose control of his vehicle and was accidentally rammed by a bus that was traveling behind him.
The rider suffered serious injuries and died on the way to hospital.
The pedestrian, who was described in the report as mentally ill, sustained minor injuries.
The still unidentified driver of the bus sped off after the incident and is being pursued by authorities as of posting time.
