Sick baby boy needs surgery

MANILA, Philippines—Kenneth Cristoff Gonzales, a five-month-old baby, was born with biliary atresia, a life-threatening liver disease in which white blood cells invade the bile ducts, causing damage to the organ.

“His liver was so badly damaged that attending physicians at Philippine General Hospital told us he needs a liver transplant as soon as possible,” Kenneth’s aunt, Suzette, told the Inquirer.

According to Suzette, she and the baby’s parents, Arvin and Kristine Gonzales, are from Negros Occidental.

“We went to Manila to look for kind souls who could save Kenneth’s young life,” she said, adding that the baby’s parents are themselves very young. Kristine is only 18 while Arvin is 22 and earns a living as a tricycle driver.

The couple need P3 million for the liver transplant, Suzette added. She can be contacted at 4702390, 0910-3921076 and 09392023611. Donations can be coursed through her joint bank account with baby Kenneth at Metrobank (account number 345-3-34509844-6) or in Arvin Gonzales’ joint bank account with his son at Banco de Oro (account number 6170113919).
