MANILA, Philippines—Composer and conductor Lucio San Pedro has created music, including hymns and movie themes and scores, for over 60 years. Known for his creations like “Sa Ugoy ng Duyan” and “Lahing Kayumanggi,” which won him the Republic Cultural Heritage Award in 1962, he was named National Artist for Music in 1991. San Pedro is a cousin of National Artist for Painting Carlos “Botong” Francisco.—Schatzi Quodala, Inquirer Research
