17 more Pogo workers deported to China

A Filipina who works for a legitimate Philippine offshore gaming operator (Pogo) has asked the House of Representatives not to push measures that would get rid of the industry, saying that it helps a lot of people make ends meet.

Another batch of Chinese workers of unlicensed Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (Pogo) companies were deported to their home country on Wednesday, according to the Bureau of Immigration (BI). The bureau said the 17 Chinese Pogo workers are the third batch of deportations due to illegal online gambling. Earlier, the BI deported six Chinese nationals, while 21 others were deported last Nov. 2. They were among more than 300 foreign workers arrested in separate operations against illegal online gambling in September.
