‘High-value’ drug suspect yields P449,000 shabu in Lucena City

LUCENA CITY — Police seized on Tuesday more than P449,000 worth of shabu (crystal meth) from an alleged “high value” female drug trafficker in this city.

Colonel Ledon Monte, Quezon police chief, reported that they arrested around 10:30 p.m. Jonalyn Sagala, 31, after selling shabu worth P11,000 to a poseur buyer in a subdivision in Barangay Ilayang Iyam.

Authorities confiscated from Sagala 13 sachets of shabu weighing 66.13 grams with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P449,684.

It is worth P1,349,052 in the street market at P20,400 per gram, the report said.

The police also confiscated a motorcycle believed to have been used by Sagala in her illegal drug trade.

Authorities are investigating the source of the drugs.

Police said Sagala was on the drug watch list.

Anti-narcotics agents also arrested at 2:58 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, Ma. Victoria Magadia, in a drug sting in Barangay Isabang, Lieutenant Colonel Reynaldo Reyes, Lucena police chief, said in another report.

The police seized P14,280 worth of shabu from Magadia.

Both suspects were detained and face complaints for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
