2 dead in Batangas, Cavite road crashes

LUCENA CITY — A jeepney passenger and a motorcyclist died early Monday, Nov. 14, in road mishaps in Batangas and Laguna provinces.

The Region 4A police reported that a passenger jeepney driven by Mauro Lasheras around 3:30 a.m. crashed his vehicle into the sidewalk at Barangay Dominador West in Alitagtag town, Batangas.

Passenger Jayson Morada, seated in front, fell to the ground and suffered a head injury. He was rushed to a hospital in Taal town, but died along the way.

The jeepney driver is in police custody.

In Victoria, Laguna, Rommel Belda was driving his motorcycle with Juluis Malitic as back-rider around midnight, when their vehicle collided with an ambulance driven by Antonio Murillo along the national highway in Barangay Masapang.

The strong impact threw the riders from the vehicle onto the pavement.

Belda died on the spot from grave head and body injuries, while Malitic was rushed to the nearest hospital.
