LUCENA CITY — Police in the Calabarzon region seized more than P247,000 worth of illegal drugs in a 24-hour operation.

In a report Friday, Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., commander of Police Regional Office 4A, said the operation from Wednesday to Thursday (November 3-4) also resulted in the arrest of 27 drug suspects.

The operations netted 18.32 grams of “shabu” (crystal meth) and 1,000 grams of marijuana, all with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P247,121.

“This is the result of our continuous and intensified campaign against illegal drugs,” Nartatez said in a statement.

The report cited the arrest of Christian Jonel Babagay in a buy-bust operation in Antipolo City on Wednesday night.

Authorities seized P121,500 worth of high-grade marijuana, also known as kush, from Babagay, a college student who was listed as one of Antipolo City’s high-value targets.

However, Babagay’s arrest alarmed Nartatez, who ordered intensified anti-illegal drug campaigns in schools to save the students from the clutches of illegal drugs. INQ
