Some LGUs in Eastern Visayas suspend classes, work due to floods
TACLOBAN CITY — Heavy rains spawned by Tropical Storm Queenie (international name: Banyan) have flooded many parts of Eastern Visayas, prompting several local governments in the region to suspend classes and work.
Among the areas in the region that suspended work and classes were the towns of Abuyog and Barugo, both in Leyte; Lawaan in Eastern Samar; and Caibiran and Cabucgayan, both in Biliran province.

In Tacloban City, several schools opted not to hold classes even without any order from higher-ups.

Article continues after this advertisementThe Department of Agriculture (DA) in the region said they are still reeling from the effects of Severe Tropical Storm Paeng (international name: Nalgae), which brought P16.12 million in damage to agriculture.

The affected farmers and vegetable growers were from Northern Samar (162); Biliran (141); Eastern Samar (122); Samar, (29); and Leyte (14).
