Fire destroys more than 100 houses in Cebu City
CEBU CITY — More than 100 houses were destroyed by a fire that hit a congested community in Barangay Mambaling here at around 11 p.m. on Monday, October 31.
There were no reported casualties but fire fighters estimate the damage caused by the fire at over P1.8 million.
At least 527 families who lost their homes were temporarily housed at the Mambaling Sports Gym.
A total of 110 houses were destroyed by the blaze while eight others were damaged. Most of these houses were made of light materials.
Investigators have yet to determine what caused the fire but initial reports stated that an unattended lighted candle started the fire.
