2 dead, 2 hurt in motorcycle mishaps in Batangas

LUCENA CITY — Two motorcycle riders died and two others were injured in separate road mishaps in San Juan town in Batangas province on Tuesday, Nov. 1, police said.

The Batangas police reported Wednesday that Albert Dimaculangan was driving his motorcycle with back-riders Marlo Villarama and Juan Carlos Galit, when their vehicle crashed at 10:50 p.m. into the rear of an Isuzu truck driven by Raul De Castro, who was about to park his vehicle in Barangay Sico 2.

Due to the impact, the three riders were thrown off the vehicle and landed on the pavement. Galit was subsequently run over by a passing van driven by Manuel Simeon.

All the injured were taken to the nearest hospital, but Galit died along the way.

Earlier, at 2:05 p,m., a Nissan Patrol driven by Rodolfo Custodio hit motorcyclist Erwin Esguerra in Barangay Abung.

Esguerra died while being taken to the hospital, police said.

The police are conducting further investigations into both accidents. The reports did not say if the riders were wearing crash helmets.
